Over the last 14 years the Purple Puck has provided a
competitive mid-season, holiday tournament for the best high
school teams in the D.C. area.
History Of The Tournament
The first Gonzaga National
Capital Hockey Tournament was played in December on
1993. Nine teams participated. Father Bernard J. Dooley,
S.J., former president of Gonzaga College High School,
described the "Purple Puck" tournament as "...both the
first Gonzaga-sponsored hockey tournament and the first
hockey tournament in the Washington, DC area." The
tournament was a great success and thanks to your
support has become an annual tradition.
